Ivy Higa launched her fashion label Ivy h. in 2009 from the floor of her East Village apartment.
Ivy, who was raised in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii and graduated from The University of Hawaii in 2003, moved to New York just three years prior to launching her own label. While attending Parsons The New School of Design, Ivy interned at DKNY. Immediately after graduating in 2007, she worked at Lafayette 148 New York under the direction of Edward Wilkerson. From there, she continued to expand her fashion knowledge at Zac Posen, Diane von Furstenberg, and contemporary mega brand Theory. Ivy continues to focus on her own ready-to-wear and capsule collections in New York City.
Since launching her label, Ivy was one of the contestants on The Oscar’s Designers Challenge, and Project Runway Season 8. She has been featured in WWD, Elle.com, Instyle.com, Lucky Magazine, New York Post, and Modern Luxury Hawaii to name a few. She has also been chosen by NBC New York’s ThreadNY as a designer to watch. She has dressed Olivia Munn and Lifetime president Nancy Dubuc for the primetime Emmys. She has shown her collections at New York Fashion Week since September 2009 to rave reviews from press and retailers alike.
Ivy works with diaphanous fabrics to add depth and movement to her ethereal designs. There is distinct lightness about her design aesthetic.
This season she launches her capsule collection-The Essentials. This range focuses on five geometric silhouettes – cross, circle, triangle, rectangle, and square – and builds upon transparent bodies and underpinnings. For its debut, the geometric silk chiffon tops reflect shades of natural elements – onyx, slate, cement, and sandstone.
Reminiscent and inspired by negligee, to be worn as ready-to-wear, it is effortlessly beautiful. With its seductive silhouettes and signature triangle grosgrain at center back, any fashionista will be able to identify the stylish, Ivy h. piece.
The Ivy h. woman is confident, effortlessly stylish, romantic and modern.
